defragmenting

Re: defragmenting

Hi Lynn, Windows 98SE & Me are notorious for General Protection Faults. Whenever I received such an error message, I simply rebooted and everything worked fine. Is your computer operating ok? If so, don't worry about the GPF unless you consistently receive the error message. If you do, copy the file [e.g. mmsystem.dll] and Google it, or go to www.mvps.org and ask them your question. As for defrag, I would turn off screen saver and anti virus, then run defrag. If you're still unable to defrag, reboot into safe mode [F8] and defrag from there. Don't forget to enable your anti virus program. Hope this helps. Joe
