Ellen, so sorry to hear about your sick friend. To use Outlook Express or any POP3 mail clients, you do need to have your account set up correctly. IMO, the easiest way for you to do this, is to call your ISP provider, I am sure they will be glad to walk you though that process step by step. And Clare is right, the person you send email to, requesting a read receipt has to acknowledge it, but I thought your friend would except it, then you would know she received it. Hope this information helps in case you want to try using Outlook Express.
